Q&A: Meet Mike Ford
Q: What first brought you to Flooid?
It was over 36 years ago! I’d taken a Fortran course during my Chemistry degree and discovered I enjoyed programming more than chemistry itself. I wanted to get into software development, and that’s when I joined Flooid (or PCMS as it was known at the time).
Q: Tell us about your current role and how it supports Flooid’s success
I’ve held many roles here – analyst, developer, team lead, project manager, consultant, and now I lead our Business Analyst function. I manage and mentor BAs, allocate resources, review documentation, and support product management. BAs are vital to ensuring our technical requirements are clearly defined, understood and met, so that we deliver high-quality outcomes for our customers. While I focus on people and processes now, I still enjoy rolling up my sleeves for hands-on analysis work when needed.
Q: Would you recommend Flooid as a place to work?
Absolutely. My manager is supportive, we collaborate across teams, and the people here are genuinely great to work with. What’s kept me here for decades is the constant evolution – new roles, products, and customers bring fresh challenges and learning opportunities. At Flooid, there’s always room to grow and contribute meaningfully.
